Dr. Christopher Newman’s passion for dentistry began at an early age after a childhood accident left him with two broken front teeth. What felt devastating at the time quickly became life-changing when his dentist restored his smile with cosmetic dentistry.
Watching that transformation sparked a lifelong interest in the science, precision, and artistry behind dentistry. From that moment on, he knew he wanted to help people the same way he had been helped.
Today, Dr. Newman is known for combining advanced clinical training with a calm, thoughtful approach to patient care. As a cosmetic and family dentist in West Columbia, SC, he believes dentistry should feel comfortable, collaborative, and centered around long-term oral health.
His philosophy is simple: provide honest recommendations, preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible, and help patients achieve healthy, natural-looking smiles they feel confident in.

Education, Credentials & Advanced Dental Training
Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Newman demonstrated exceptional academic drive early on, graduating from Villanova University in just three years before earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
While at Penn, he was awarded the Dean’s Honor Scholarship in recognition of his academic achievement and dedication to excellence in dentistry.
Following dental school, Dr. Newman completed an intensive General Practice Residency at Abington Memorial Hospital, where he received advanced hospital-based training in comprehensive dental care, complex treatment planning, and emergency dentistry.
Committed to staying at the forefront of modern dentistry, Dr. Newman regularly pursues advanced continuing education and completes more than 28 hours of additional training every two years.
His continuing education focuses on cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, restorative techniques, technology, and patient comfort, allowing him to provide modern, evidence-based dental care using the latest advancements in the field.
Outside the Office
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Newman enjoys spending time with his wife, a South Carolina native, and their son. As a family, they love traveling together, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors.
He also enjoys grilling, reading, golfing, fishing, and spending time on beautiful Lake Murray whenever he can.
